The Reality of Real Estate...

With our return to the good ol' US of A fast approaching, we've been scouring every realty site known to man lately in search of, what could potentially be, our humble new abode. I figure what better way to share in the "joy" of our home search than to share with our family and friends? Please note my sarcasm... While we generally agree on most things home-related, our views on some things are not always in line with one another. But, it's not been as much of a headache as I initially had anticipated and we've actually come up with several that we're pretty excited about seeing in person. If all goes well, we'll be leaving on a jet plane toward the end of March (if the f$#%&'ing ticket prices ever decide to become reasonable!) to see for ourselves, what could potentially be, our very first home. :)

This Shumaker Homes beauty is located in the 'Ashbrook' subdivsion in south Sumter. The floor plan is a 'Chandler C' and looks to be exactly what we'd be looking for. No interior pics as of yet, however. And, we just don't know much about this particular area... So, we shall see.

This next one is the home that I am particularly obsessed with. I fell in love with this hot little mama's kitchen and hardwood flooring. I'm also pretty partial to the cute breakfast nook. Jeff, however, is not a fan of the "random columns"... Hmmph. I happen to like the random columns. Not sure about having neighbors in our back yard either, which, I'm afraid, will be a deal-breaker for us. Boo. Go away backyard neighbors. Let me have my fabulous kitchen! >:/
And by the way, I stole these pictures from the builder's website...
The exterior:

Some shots of my hot little kitchen... I loooove the cute sink! (Hey, it doesn't take much, OK?)

And some shots of the living/dining area with my coveted hardwood floors (note the random columns)...

And a shot of the back "yard" area...notice how there isn't a great shot of the rest (I'm assuming because there is nosy neighbor X directly behind where the picture-taker-person is standing). Grr. Still my favorite nonetheless.

And, last but certainly not least, here is one that we are actually in agreeance upon in nearly every aspect... And guess what? No neighbors in our back yard! Sweet! We're hoping this one is still available in a couple of months:

Another Shumaker Homes creation:

Some of the interior...Not 100% thrilled with carpeting, but that can be easily fixed :)

I can see myself drowning in a bottle of wine (or 2) while I turn into a little prune, here:

Since this is quite a hot topic of conversation in the Fisher household lately, I'll be frequently airing my thoughts throughout this lovely little process. Should be an interesting next couple of months. Good times.

I really like the 2nd house, but have to agree with your hubby on the columns. The kitchen is fabulous though--it's so open.
The 3rd one is fabulous too.
I hope you guys really find something you love!
